Week of April 9th, 2013

Welcome back to school! I hope everybody's Easter break was enjoyable and gave you the opportunity to reflect on Jesus Christ's sacrifice for us!

Here's what's going on this week:

Language Arts
This week we have started a unit on poetry. The students are making their own poetry books which they will need to work each night. Everyday we are working on a different type of poem. If your child needs extra help writing their poem, please refer to the following website as a resource for poetry writing: http://www.kathimitchell.com/poemtypes.html

Soon we will be reading the book Holes by Louis Sachar. Please be sure to secure yourself a copy as soon as possible. If you are unable, please let me know and I will get one for you.

Mathematics
In math we are working on measuring and finding perimeter and area. Please review the following websites for additional support and/or practice:

Science
In Science we are beginning our physical science unit where are studying the Periodic Table of the Elements and the properties of matter.

Let's have a great week!
